Global data breaches have spiked during the second quarter this year with almost 111 million accounts compromised.

That’s one of the key findings in a new report from cybersecurity firm Surfshark, noting a surge that’s nearly triple the 41.6 million breaches recorded in the first quarter last. year.

The United States is top of the list of countries impacted by these breaches, accounting for 49.8 million leaked accounts, with other heavily affected nations including Russia, Spain, France and Turkey.

The overall breached user count worldwide has skyrocketed by 156% compared to the previous quarter, highlighting the inadequacy of existing data protection measures.
