Microsoft recently announced that the next version of its Windows operating system, Windows 8, will be launched on October 26 this year, but what does this mean for Windows 7 users?

Well if you bought a new PC running Windows 7 any time on or after June 2 this year then you’ll have the option to buy a downloadable upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for just under $15.

If you fit into this catagory you can register for the upgrade now at www.windowsupgradeoffer.com.  If however you have a computer running Windows 7 that isn’t new, the upgrade to Windows 8 will be a little more expensive but possibly only around $40 for most users.

You’ll find more information on Windows 8 and even download a preview version to try out before the official release at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows-8/release-preview
