One third of Australians are spending too much time online.

That’s the headline of new research commissioned by VTech Telecommunications Australia that found that many of us are constantly connected with smartphones and tablet devices.

It may come as no surprise that millennials are the top offenders with 47 percent admitting that they spend too much time online…compared to 22 percent of baby-boomers.
Now the research also revealed that more than a quarter of us are actively trying to reduce the amount of time we spend online but for some millennials, the fear of being un-contactable is holding them back.

Perhaps many have been too quick to dump their landline phone?

So what’s the solution? Pulling the plug on the internet perhaps? But how do you do that without cutting yourself off completely? Bring in the humble home phone. The VTech research shows that one quarter of Aussies say one of the best things about having a home phone is that it means they can switch off their mobile devices.
