phonescamCyber criminals want to steal your information…and if they already have it they’ll use it to try and grab your hard earned cash.  You might expect this in the form of a fake shopping website or malicious software download, but sometimes their efforts are surprisingly low-tech.

Internet security company Trend Micro warns that a phone call out of the blue that appears to be from your bank reporting suspicious transactions on your credit card could in fact be from someone who is actually fishing for just a bit more of your personal information to give them access to your account.

These calls can sound quite convincing and can cause a lot of problems but if you’re not 100 percent sure then it’s best to hang up and call your bank back on their official customer service number.
