Got your mobile phone with you in the car?  Sending mobile text messages while driving is illegal in all states and territories of Australia…because it’s a dangerous distraction.

US experts claim that texting increases drive crash risk by 2300 per cent, yet people continue to do it.

It’s also worth noting that this law extends to other functions on a handheld phone while driving like playing games, talking and taking photos and video…and just becuase you might be stopped at a red light, it’s still not ok to pick up your mobile phone.

The message is simple. If you need to use your mobile phone in the car, pull over and avoid both an accident and risk of copping a large fine.
