If you thought that the latest smartphone devices were just for the tech savvy and well younger generation, think again.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics over’s 65s are Australia’s fastest growing age group and while many are becoming more confident with technology, premium handsets and plans are not on the agenda.

Australian tech firm Soniq has taken note and is now getting set to release it’s own android smartphone aimed at these older users without draining the budget or lock-in users plans.

SONIQ’s general manager, Song Su, said:

“The market is rife with complicated Cap Plans and smoke and mirrors marketing that’s misleading and confusing for consumers. Older people want to be connected but they don’t want to risk accidently running up a whopping great bill. We will be offering Smartphones on pre-paid bundles at a price they can afford to ensure that they can stay connected without fear of bill shock.”

Soniq is expected to release more details some time in the next few months.
