With the hype surrounding the launch of the iPad 2, it’s no surprise that initial stock of Apple’s table device sold out within hours of its release in Australia.

If you did happen to pick up an iPad 2 or have an original iPad with 3G network connectivity then you’ll need to get a SIM card from a mobile service provider to use the device online when you’re not connected to a Wi-Fi network.

Many providers now offer data only plans that are ideal for the iPad and it seems that pre-paid plans are offering the best deals at the moment.

Amaysim’s data pack includes 1gigabyte of data a month for $9.90…after that you could also look at Telstra or Vodaphone as slightly more expensive options.
