If you’ve just bought a new computer and are thinking of selling off your old one…here are a couple of things you need to do first.

Simply deleting files and folders isn’t enough if you don’t want to share andy personal information stored on that computer with the new owner.

The act of deleting simply makes data disappear from view, but until that particular space on the hard drive is overwritten with new data, it can still be recovered…and you don’t want that.

The best practise is to completely erase the hard drive then re-install the operating system so the computer is like new. You can find a good free program to securely erase your hard drive HERE.
Oh, and before you erase everything…be sure to make a backup of any files you want to transfer to your new computer.
