What’s a great smartphone that’s also very affordable?  I get asked this quite a bit…so here are two of the latest candidates.

The Nokia 1 plus features a 5.45inch display and runs on a lighter and more efficient version of Android 9 Pie.  It’s priced at just $169…and also has an FM radio built in.

Other features include:

  • Cutting-edge design with an 18:9 full screen display for better viewing quality.
  • 8MP auto focus rear camera and 5MP selfie camera that is enhanced with a ‘beautify’ feature.
  • Full access to the Google Play Store with optimised apps for Android 9 Pie (Go edition).
  • The Android 9 Pie (Go edition) pure, secure and up to date promise, along with no bloatware, skins, UI changes or unnecessary pre-installed apps.

If you’re after a slightly larger display, Oppo’s AX5s offers a 6.3inch LCD screen, plus a higher capacity battery.  The price is higher than the Nokia 1 but at $299 still very affordable.

Other highlights of the AX5s:

  • Stylish mirror exterior with unique waterdrop screen
  • Impressive battery life at 4230mAh and 3GB RAM
  • Capture every angle with 13MP+2MP dual rear cameras and 8MP front beauty camera
  • The upgraded ColorOS 5.2.1, introducing new features such as Smart Scan and Smart Bar.
