Nintendo’s 3DS is the hottest gadget in Video Games at the moment, but if you’re still not sure what all the hype is about you need to get your eyes in front of one to fully understand why everyone seems to be raving about it.

For anyone who does own a 3DS, while you may have just parted with around $350 for your new favourite toy, I’d like to suggest a few accessories that are must-have items in my book for keeping your 3DS in safe, clean and well organised.

As a bare minimum, grab some screen protectors – For around 7-8 dollars you can at least keep both the lower touch screen and uppper 3D screen free of dust, fingerprints and scratches. When you’re screens do start looking a bit worse for wear, simply remove and replace the protectors.

Now unless you plan on keeping your 3DS at home (and let’s face it, what’s the point of that) venturing with your new console into the world is going to require a case to keep it safe. Your best best bet here is to grab one of the various 3DS ‘travel kits’ on the market. A starter kit will set you back around 30 dollars and includes a soft case 3DS Case, 2 replacement Stylus, Cleaning Cloth, Ear Bud headphones, Screen Protectors and 2 x Tri-Fold Game Cases.

Personally I managed to get my hands on an Explorer Starter Kit for my 3DS, which cost around the 40 dollar mark. The main difference here is that it contains a case that’s a bit more sturdy than the basic kit, along with an in-car charging adapter.

These are just some of the officially licensed accessories for the Nintendo 3DS. You’ll find that there are plenty more for those who want to make a fashion statement or give their new toy an executive feel.
