20years of the Thinkpad

The ThinkPad has just celebrated it’s 20th birthday. Back in 1992, portable computers were far from what we know now but they did exist and back then IBM was leading the way with the Thinkpad.

The ThankPad 700c was the industry’s first notebook computer to feature a thin transistor display and two years later the thinkpad was the first notepad to have a built in CD ROM drive.

By the year 2000, 10 million thinkpads had been sold and by 2010 sales were at 60 million units, and they are still going today with the latest thinkpad tablet 2 by Lenovo, designed for the new Windows 8 operating system.
