SIMBefore you take your mobile phone on your next trip overseas here are a few things to consider.

Even if you’re just making calls, you can quickly run up a large bill, especially if you are making or receiving calls from home…that’s right you’ll usually pay to receive calls too.

Using mobile data in another country is a big no no…that is unless you like the idea of potentially adding thousands of dollars to your next bill.  Most phone now have data roaming switched off my default but it’s best to check before you leave home and make the most of wi-fi where you can.

Finally, consider buying a local pre-paid SIM card while overseas,  you can then enjoy the lower call and data costs while you travel…just make sure you put your local mobile SIM card somewhere safe for you return.
