Your Cat’s name might be cute and memorable, but don’t use it as a password.

New research from Vodaphone reveals nearly one in five Australians use their pet’s name as a password, making them easy targets for cybercriminals. Common choices like Daisy, Luna, and Toby rank among the top pet names —exactly the kind of predictable passwords hackers exploit.

Women are more likely than men to use their pets’ names, with 23% admitting to it, compared to 15% of men.

The data highlights an ongoing issue: many people still choose convenience over security.

Experts recommend using strong, unique passwords and enabling two-factor authentication to reduce the risk of online fraud.
