OpenAI has announced a major update aimed at protecting young users of its popular A-I service, ChatGPT.
The company is introducing new parental controls that will allow adults to link to their child’s account. From there, they can manage features like chat history and will receive a notification if the system detects the teen is experiencing “acute distress.”
The update also includes age-appropriate settings that will be turned on by default for all teenage users.
OpenAI says the changes are part of a broader safety initiative. This includes using more advanced systems to provide safer responses in sensitive contexts and making it easier to find professional help.
