How To Spot A Fake Email

August 10, 2021

How do you spot a fake scam email?

Cybercriminals still use email to launch their attacks on individuals and businesses by posing as someone you know or a company you are familiar with…and while at first glance these messages may look convincing…the devil is in the detail.

Some of the warning signs include…

  • The senders email address doesn’t match one you’re familiar with
  • The subject heading has been left blank
  • Poor grammar and/or spelling
  • Urgent requests for personal information
  • And requests to visit a website using a link with an unusual looking address.

It’s worth visiting the Australian Government’s ScamWatch.gov.au website to stay across the latest scams.
