Modern vehicles are full of  high-tech safety features designed to save lives, but it seems many drivers find them more of a nuisance than a help.

A new report from the 2025 AAMI Crash Index reveals one in five Australians are choosing to switch them off. The main reason? A significant 69 per cent say systems like lane departure warnings are too annoying or distracting.
This trend comes despite AAMI’s own claims data confirming cars with these features are involved in fewer accidents.

AAMI warns that drivers are disabling technology proven to prevent common collisions. To see the full list of features drivers are turning off, read the full report here.
